PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Charles Cabiness, 26 years old, from the North Side neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh. Cabiness was wanted in connection to a homicide that occurred in August of this year. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Creswell Street of St Clair Village when the suspect fatally shot Monica Gay, 38. Police believe the motive for the shooting was due to Gay testifying against Cabiness’ younger brother, Luzay Watson, 21, after he is believed to have murdered Gay’s brother back in May of this year.
Over the last few weeks, Sheriff’s deputies have been continuously investigating the whereabouts of the wanted fugitive. This morning, Deputies attained information that Cabiness had been staying at a home in the 900 block of Park Place in Munhall. After confirming the address, deputies surrounded the residence and announced themselves. Upon hearing movement throughout the house, the entrance was breached and the suspect was apprehended without incident in the living room.
Upon his apprehension by Sheriff’s deputies, Cabiness was handed off to City of Pittsbugh Homicide Detectives where he will be interviewed and eventually arraigned on Criminal Homicide and Carrying Firearm Without A License charges. Furthermore, Cabiness will be held without bond at the Allegheny County Jail
