PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the arrest of Robert Alston, 33 years of age from the East End section of the City of Pittsburgh. Alston was wanted on two (2) separate bench warrants involving two (2) separate cases that were issued in May of 2009, by the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Alston had never appeared for hearings related to child support matters owing in excess of $75,000 in arrearages. After initial efforts to locate him had failed, Alston was subsequently placed in the top fifty (50) on the sheriff’s office “Most Wanted” list.
At approximately 8:00 am on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, detectives from the investigations division of the sheriff’s office arrested Alston in the 4500 block of Penn Avenue in the City of Pittsburgh.
Detectives, acting on a “Tip” that was generated from the sheriff’s office web site, were able to follow-up on the information that was supplied and apprehend Alston without incident.
Alston was transported directly to the Allegheny County Family Division to await a hearing before a family court judge.
Alston is the second “Most Wanted” offender that was taken into custody within the last two weeks. On December 3, 2009, sheriff’s deputies arrested James Temple who was listed as number three (3) owing over $111,000 in back child support.
