PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Kevin Taylor Reed, 49 years old, from Glassport. Reed was wanted for failing to appear in court for Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy and Resisting Arrest. These charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 16, 2009 in McKeesport. During this alleged incident Reed is accused of robbing someone at the McKeesport Transportation Center. After this robbery, it is further alleged that Reed fled on foot and was hiding in a wooded area and had to be apprehended by a police K-9. Reed was released on bond four days after his arrest and failed to appear in court shortly thereafter. A bench warrant was issued for him on December 14, 2009 and he was then placed on the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office “Most Wanted” website.
During the course of this investigation sheriff’s deputies learned that the only address for Reed was for a boarding house in Glassport. Sheriff's deputies made contact with several neighbors in this area and asked that they be on the look out for Reed. These deputies also learned that it was not uncommon for Reed to sometimes disappear for weeks at a time. This evening around 10:00 p.m. a neighbor contacted sheriff’s deputies and informed them that Reed had just entered a building located in the 400 block of Monongahela Avenue in Glassport. Sheriff’s deputies along with Glassport Police immediately went to this residence and apprehended Reed without incident. Reed was then taken to the Allegheny County Jail where he will be held without bond.
