PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Joseph John Nesbitt, 30 years old, from Tarentum. Nesbitt was wanted for violating the conditions of his probation/parole in regards to a 2008 guilty plea on several charges. Nesbitt was originally charged by police in connection with the theft of copper from vacant houses and thefts from motor vehicles in Tarentum Borough. Nesbitt later pled guilty to Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief and Loitering and Prowling at Night Time. On November 21, 2011, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest due to the violation and deputies have been searching for him since.

This evening, deputies received an e-mail tip through the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office “Most Wanted” website. The tip stated that Nesbitt was hiding in the Johnstown, Pennsylvania area. Furthermore, the tipster’s information directed deputies to an apartment building located on Vine Street, along with the name of the leaseholder. Sheriff’s deputies immediately contacted Johnstown Police and provided them with this information. In less than sixty minutes Johnstown Police had Nesbitt in custody.  He is now being held in the Cambria County Jail where he will stay until he is transported to Allegheny County later this week.
