PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the arrest of Robert L. Foltz Jr., 34 years old, from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Foltz is being charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, Theft From a Motor Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property and Public Intoxication. Foltz is also wanted by Mifflin County Sheriff’s Office on a bench warrant for an Aggravated Assault charge.
This afternoon deputies received a call from a Judge regarding an intoxicated person wandering around the Judge’s parking lot. The Judge told deputies that she believed this person was inside another jurist’s vehicle. Deputies immediately responded and did observe Foltz behind a vehicle. As deputies attempted to speak to Foltz, he attempted to assault one deputy and assaulted another. After a brief struggle Foltz was restrained and taken back to the courthouse to be charged Foltz refused to walk and had to be carried inside the building. Foltz was found to have in his possession items taken from inside a Judge’s vehicle. Foltz was out of control and appeared to be strongly under the influence of alcohol and or drugs. Once inside the building, Foltz again refused to walk or sit and while lying on the ground, began kicking and banging his head off the marble floor causing a laceration. Deputies requested paramedics to treat Foltz. When the Medics arrived, Foltz began attempting to fight and spit at them. Medics were forced to place a spit shield over Foltz’s face and strap him to a gurney before transporting him to an area hospital. Foltz will be transported to the Allegheny County Jail once he is released from the hospital and should be arraigned sometime tomorrow. Foltz claimed to be homeless and stated he was staying in Pittsburgh as part of the Occupy Pittsburgh movement.
