PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the arrests of Damon J. Boyd, Carter Leon Gaston and Kenneth Townsend. Deputies had received information that Boyd, 38 years old, from Monroeville, would be at a residence located in the Sheridan area of Pittsburgh. Boyd was wanted for failing to appear in court on an earlier drug charge.
This afternoon, while in that area, deputies observed Boyd and one other person walk out of the residence, enter a vehicle and drive away. Deputies followed and pulled the vehicle over at the intersection of Chartiers Avenue and Corliss Street. Boyd was removed from the vehicle and apprehended immediately. Also in the vehicle was Carter Leon Gaston, 35 years old, from Wilkinsburg. When deputies attempted to remove Gaston from the vehicle they observed him moving around in the front passenger seat. After he was removed, deputies found approximately four ounces of crack cocaine. Deputies knew that both Boyd and Gaston had just left a residence in the 300 block of Wyckoff Street so they obtained a search warrant for the house. Upon execution of the search warrant, deputies found approximately two additional ounces of cocaine, drug manufacturing materials and approximately four ounces of marijuana. Kenneth Townsend was arrested at the residence based on the items seized.
Boyd and Gaston have been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession with the Intent to Deliver. Townsend has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. All three have been lodged in the county jail and will be arraigned in the morning.
