PITTSBURGH, PA – Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Darson Williams, 37 years of age from the Pittsburgh.

Sheriff’s deputies were contacted by the District Attorney’s Office in Jefferson County Ohio in regards to the whereabouts of Williams.  The clerk stated that they had a grand jury indictment for Williams originating from an incident from December 2011.  The indictment states that Williams attempted to shoot Anthony Rice while he was driving his vehicle.  Outside of vehicle damage, Rice was unscathed from the assault.  While shooting at Rice’s vehicle, Williams fired shots in the direction of two homes located in close proximity to the shooting.  Subsequently, Williams violated the terms of his probation from an earlier drug charge by possessing a firearm.  The District Attorney’s Office believes that Williams, a resident of Pittsburgh, was in the Greater Pittsburgh area hiding out from authorities.

Upon gathering the information provided by Jefferson County, sheriff’s deputies realized that Williams was also wanted out of Allegheny County for Conspiracy – Manufacture/Deliver/Possess with Intent Manufacture or Deliver, Manufacture/Deliver/Possess with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver and Intent/Possess Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered and Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Furthermore, deputies discovered a Domestic Relations warrant issued by Family Division of Allegheny County.  At this point deputies began to search Williams whereabouts.

This morning, deputies received information that Williams was staying in the Hill District neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh.  After a few hours of surveillance, deputies had gathered information placing Williams in a house within the 800 block of Bryn Mawr Avenue.  Upon announcing themselves, deputies were able to make contact with Williams mother who stated that he was in the home somewhere, but she was unsure where.  After a brief search, deputies found Williams hiding under clothes on the second floor.  He was quickly taken into custody and transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he will be charged as a Fugitive From Justice.  Due to his multiple Allegheny County warrants, it is unknown when Williams will be extradited to Ohio.
