PITTSBURGH, PA - The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public in an effort to locate a missing child was ordered into the custody of Children, Youth and Family Services. On October 19, 2011, a family court judge issued a court order directing that Gregory T. McKenith, a two year-old child be placed into the custody of C.Y.F. At the time of the order, McKenith was in the custody of his parents, Gregory Tyrone McKenith and Darnisha Renee Mills. Since the court’s ruling, both C.Y.F. and police have attempted to locate this child at the parents’ last known address, 2200 block of Centre Avenue in the Hill District. However all attempts have been unsuccessful. Yesterday, sheriff’s deputies were contacted by C.Y.F. and asked to assist in locating this child.
Last evening, deputies began to gather information on both Mills and McKenith Sr. as to their whereabouts. Deputies quickly learned that although McKenith Sr. claims to be homeless, him, his wife and son are known to frequent local hotels. Deputies were led to the Hotel 51 in Baldwin Borough and discovered that all three had checked out earlier that day. After working through the evening and into today, deputies were able to make contact with McKenith Sr. and surrendered to deputies this evening. Deputies believe that Mills and the child are in the Highland Park/East Liberty area or possibly the Sharpsburg area. Both McKenith Sr. and Mills have been charged with Kidnapping, Interference with the Custody of a Child, Concealment of the Whereabouts of a Child, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Conspiracy. Deputies are asking anyone with information as to whereabouts of Mills and her child to please call the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office at 412-350-4714. Any and all information will be kept completely confidential.
