PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Todd Clifford Kiester, 33 years old, from the Brookline section of Pittsburgh. Kiester was wanted for failing to appear in court last week. These charges stem from an alleged sexual assault that occurred on October 16, 2011. Kiester was charged with Aggravated Indecent Assault- Forcible Compulsion, Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault- Forcible Compulsion, Unlawful Restraint and Simple Assault. He had been free on bond since his arrest in November of 2011. On April 26, 2012 a warrant was issued for his arrest and deputies have been searching for him since.
This afternoon, deputies developed information that Kiester had fled Pennsylvania and was now hiding in Columbiana, Ohio. Sheriff’s deputies traveled to Columbiana and met with local police. Deputies had a vehicle description of the car that Kiester was driving and had a general idea of his whereabouts. Deputies and police went to this area and observed Kiester exiting a drug store. They were then able to apprehend him in the parking lot without incident. Once Kiester was in custody deputies observed two full suitcases and Kiester’s passport inside the vehicle he was operating. The vehicle was later released to the owner. Columbiana Police then took Kiester to the Mahoning County Jail where he will be held until he is extradited to Pittsburgh.
