PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Deron Lamont Taylor, 27 years old of McKees Rocks. Taylor was wanted on a warrant in connection with a shooting that occurred On May 23rd, 2012 in the 900 block of Woodlow Street, located in the Crafton Heights section of Pittsburgh. Taylor is accused of kicking in the front door and shooting at two females and a male inside the residence. The male was shot twice in the chest, as he attempted to close the door by jumping in front of one of the females. The 18-year-old daughter was shot at through a side window when she was attempting to come to her mother’s aide. Sheriff deputies and City of Pittsburgh have been searching for Taylor since that time.
This morning, sheriff’s deputies developed information that Taylor had fled the jurisdiction and was hiding out in Memphis, Tennessee. Deputies coordinated with Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Memphis and were able to track Taylor to a house in the 600 block of East Gage Ave. Taylor was subsequently apprehended without further incident at the location. When authorities arrested Taylor inside the residence, they also arrested Rahlek Woods, 27 years of age from Crafton Heights. Woods was wanted on an Allegheny County Bench Warrant for a Firearms Violation after a 2008 conviction. It is unknown at this time if Woods was involved in the home invasion. Both Taylor and Woods were taken to the Shelby County Jail and are awaiting extradition to Pittsburgh.
