In response to recent outcry from citizens denouncing gun violence and imploring action be taken to stop bloodshed in our communities, Sheriff William Mullen announced today the establishment of the Sheriff’s Office’s Firearms Violation Fugitives Web page. The Web page, which will be permanently featured on the Sheriff’s Office website, provides the photographs, descriptions and charges of all new offenders wanted for firearm related crimes.

“Allegheny County citizens have shown passion in building awareness about the anguish suffered as a result of gun violence,” said Sheriff William Mullen. “The Firearms Violation Fugitives Web page is a resource to help citizens recognize the criminals contributive to violence who are hiding in our communities.”

Identified beneath each fugitive’s picture is the municipality in which he is believed to be residing, a feature considered critical for citizens to help authorities place violent or potentially violent criminals in jail. Sheriff Mullen hopes citizens serious about addressing gun violence regularly visit the Web page and share it with others, so that anyone with information regarding a suspect will contact the Sheriff’s Office with an anonymous tip.

“Instances of gun violence can be the product of smaller crimes unfolding over time. Not every criminal featured on the Web page has pulled the trigger, but by illegally possessing firearms and disregarding firearms laws, they may become a factor in a gun falling into the hand that does,” said Sheriff William Mullen. “That’s why it is crucial for citizens to contact the Sheriff’s Office if they possess information regarding any fugitive on the Web page.”
